Truckee is a place rich in history with a quaint downtown that hosts charming shops and superb restaurants set in authentic historic buildings. Plan an evening out with family and friends at the summer street fair, aka “Truckee Thursdays”. The widely popular event features a Certified Farmer’s Market, food vendors, local merchant and community displays, as well as live music entertainment, children’s activities and a beer garden.
Live music is from 6-8pm! To see the music event line up for each Thursday, scroll down for the list at the end of this blog. There is an event stage in the heart of downtown with the Tahoe Truckee railroad in the backdrop, playing family friendly music catering to all ages to get down, dance and boogie to.
This is a “must go” event that is fun for the WHOLE family… and friends and neighbors too! However for safety, liability and sanitation reasons this is a non-pet friendly event. Keep in mind that Donner Pass Rd will be closed to vehicles between Spring St and Bridge St, making this a pedestration only even from 5-9pm.
Part of the street fair is comprised of local food trucks offering delicious take out menus for many of the local restaurants in the area including: Full Belly Deli, Java Sushi, Café Spice, Red Truck, Squaw Valley Mountain Roots, Morgan’s Lobster Shack, Hot & Healthy Foods Creperie, Truckee Sourdough Co, Frozen Fantasies, Cake Tahoe Cupcakes and Creamery, Cheri’s Hand Dipped Ice Cream Bars, Truckee Homemade Pies and more. The kids area includes a giant blow up bouncy house, trampolines with safety harness bungee cords to strap children in, corn hole, hoola-hoop station, along with other fun children’s games and activities.
The beer garden is open from 5-8pm and while all ages are welcome, ID’s are checked and wristbands given for all adults over age 21 interested in ordering drinks. Lining the cobblestone sidewalks of downtown Truckee there are also many other restaurants to sit down and order at while at the Truckee Thursday event.
Top Picks: Shop for “Tahoe Made” sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, and other accessories at the Tahoe Made Attire stand. Taste some delightful, locally made Tahoe tea blends at the Tahoe Teas booth. Or just wander the street fair and enjoy the beauty and splendor of many locally handcrafted jewelry, art, lotions, aromas, accessories, clothing, and much more.
Come enjoy one of the best experiences Historic Downtown Truckee has to offer, Truckee Thursdays!
