Memorial Day is the official kick-off to the summer season, and what better place to spend your long weekend than the shores of Lake Tahoe. After months of an epic winter that brought us record snowfall, the sun has emerged and the greens and blues of North Lake Tahoe are brighter than ever. Time to dust off those golf clubs, hiking shoes, and paddle boards! (And if you can't quite put the skis away yet, we've got open ski runs too).

So if you haven't booked yet, do it now to make sure you don't miss the party. And if you are wondering what there is to do, we've listed just a few of the reasons why Tahoe has something for everyone this holiday weekend:

Opening Day at the Lake!

A time-honored tradition, this unofficial event is when the summer season officially kicks off in North Lake Tahoe.  It means it's time to put the boat in the water and enjoy your favorite cocktail at any one of the deck opening parties at our favorite restaurants in town. No boat? No problem.  Rent a bike and travel around town on the miles of dedicated bike paths or even take advantage of FREE public transportation. Our favorite deck opening party? Sunnyside's 26th Anniversary Rock the Deck Party!  It will kick off the weekend on Friday, May 26th from 3-7 pm with live Music by The Nomads.

Spring Skiing at Palisades Tahoe

Thanks to the huge amount of snowfall we have received this year, Palisades has extended operations into the summer months! Both Palisades and Alpine will be open through May 29th, 2023 and you can enjoy LIVE music at both locations Saturday and Sunday.  Alpine will stay open every weekend through June as well!

Did Someone Say Memorial Day Sale?

And if you plan to ski, then why not re-up on your gear at a crazy discount?  Sidewalk Memorial Day sales will abound throughout downtown Tahoe City, including local's favorite Tahoe Dave's.  Or head over to Tahoe Mountain Sports' annual rep sale. Browse your favorite brands like Patagonia, Marmot, and Mountain Hardware outdoors in the Safeway Shopping Center (located in front of Tahoe Mountain Sports). This is your rare opportunity to get sample sale pricing all weekend long!
