ABOUT THE AREA
Tahoe City is perched on the shore of Lake Tahoe at the headwaters of the Truckee River (Lake Tahoe’s only outlet). Enjoy four-star dining, homegrown coffee shops, shopping, galleries, and a leisurely stroll through town on the lake view boardwalk any time of year.

Commons Beach is Tahoe City’s four acre public park on the lake, popular for sunbathing, swimming, and picnicking. Group picnic sites and children’s playgrounds are located within a large lakefront grass and sand area. Bike and watercraft rentals are available within walking distance of the beach.

During the ski season, you are just 15 minutes from Palisades Tahoe has a shuttle that runs continuously between the base area of Olympic Valley & Alpine Meadows when both resorts are open for operations, weather, and traffic permitting.

1. Maximum Day Time & Night Time Occupancy is 10 adults and 1 child (under 16).
2. Parking for 4 vehicles. Street parking is prohibited year-round.
3. While the driveway is very flat, Pioneer Dr. can be considered steep and therefore, 4WD or chains are highly suggested during the winter months.
4. Due to Extreme Fire Danger – The use of ANY outdoor firepit or fireplace is strictly prohibited at any of our rental properties. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our community safe from wildfires.

The location within walking distance of Tahoe City is great, the view is beautiful, and the place is fairly spacious, but other than that we were very disappointed with this rental and would not return. The layout is quite funky with two bathrooms side by side on the bottom floor with only one bedroom downstairs. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and only one jack and jill bathroom that adjoins the master bedroom and another bedroom. The third upstairs bedroom does not have access to the bathroom unless you walk through one of the other rooms, so the people sleeping in that room need to go downstairs in the night to use the bathroom. The place was dingy and not well maintained. The oven, which is incredibly old, was disgustingly dirty when we arrived and caked with grease. (To the credit of the rental company, they were very responsive and sent someone to clean it right away after we complained.) We enjoyed the hot tub but it was dirty when we arrived and plastic pieces of the hot tub jets popped off when we turned the jets on. Also, some of the pillows on the beds did not have pillow cases, and the entry to the place was not shoveled very well and several people in our party came close to falling every time they entered or exited the house because it was so slippery. Overall, the place did not feel cared for and was not worth the money.

Perfect for a weekend getaway!!!

We absolutely loved our stay at this house! There were 11 of us and it was the perfect fit. Enough space for everyone to sleep comfortably, hang out in the common spaces, and eat at the dining table. Perfectly close to Tahoe City, Palisades, and everything else the area has to offer. Did want to note that the hot tub, while great, wouldn't reach the temperature we were looking for, and instructions weren't totally clear on how to fix that. However, in the grand scheme of things it was a very minor issue! We'll 1000% be coming back ASAP!

The house was great. We were able to extend our check out time for $100 which was a good deal for us. Only issue is that all the showers were leaking which wet the floors. Not a huge deal but we went through a few towels.. still highly recommend it. Very spacious

Morning coffee and afternoon hot tub on deck overlooking Lake Tahoe and mountains through the pines made this much more than just a nice alternative to hotel. Tahoe Getaways staff were very helpful with transitions in and out.

Pioneer Lake View Retreat was wonderful. Tahoe Getaways were easy to work with. We stayed for one week in February and loved the place. All appliances worked. Great hot tub. Plenty of space for big groups. 10-minute walk to Tahoe City and Lake Tahoe. The house sits atop a hill which provides a great view but in the winter, a four-wheel drive is recommended for times when the roads ice. Great place!

We had 8 adults and small kids. We rented this house because it had a bedroom for each couple and their kids. Each room has 2 beds, except the master bedroom with 1 king and a sofa hideaway bed. There are 2 stair cases to the upstairs, one on each end of the house. The stairs to the master is by the front door, from the master you walk through the shared bathroom to the 2nd bedroom which has stairs by the back door. These 2 bedrooms share the bathroom separating them. The 3rd bedroom is off the 2nd bedroom at the top of the narrow steps and uses one of the 2 bathrooms downstairs. There is one more bedroom downstairs with a fireplace. It's pretty small but has a queen & twin bed, lots of cabinet space and a small closet. 2 bathrooms downstairs are both off the living room, one with a shower and the other with a bathtub/shower. Washer and dryer off kitchen, take your own laundry detergent if you plan to do more then 5 load of laundry in a weeks time. The living area and kitchen were okay for space, but for us we would have liked more space and especially a separate TV room for the kids. There was only 1 TV in the place except for a small TV in the master bedroom. Plenty of seating around the table for everyone to enjoy meals together. All in all we did enjoy our stay and the house is nice and comfy. However, for our large family we will look for a more accommodating place for all of us. It's well worth the price to stay. I suggest you take everything they recommend as you will need these items. Oh and there is not a crock pot in the home either if you like to cook with one. I would most defiantly recommend working with this management company to book a home. They were very accommodating when we called. They took very good care of us. Within walking distance to Tahoe City and grocery store, with hills on way back. Driveway path is steep & if icy you will not get out with a 2 wheel drive and/or chains. overal

We had a wonderful time! 2 couples and 3 singles stayed here. The kitchen was well outfitted with dishes and tons of spices, etc... Living room had a fair amount of sitting area- though we brought big comfy chairs in from the entry way to accommodate everyone. The house could probably benefit from a love seat or an L shaped sofa. The view was beautiful. Hot tub was clean and well maintained. Bring towels! There is only one per guest, which isn't enough if you're going from the hot tub to the shower! Also, the master bedroom shares a bathroom with a bedroom that has two queen beds in it. There weren't any noise issues but it was a little annoying coordinating who was using the bathroom when since people would forget to unlock the adjoining door. Also the doors could used some WD 40 lubricant since they were pretty squeeky. The washing machine was also very loud but it's downstairs out of the way so wasn't terribly bothersome. Overall, the house was warm and inviting and was a lovely place to spend the week! Only a 5 minute walk to town, 2 minute drive to Safeway, 15 min drive to Squaw Valley.

This house was fantastic! It was more spacious than expected and the porch is much larger than the pictures suggest. Check-in was a breeze, it was easy to find anything we needed, and it was nice having three bathrooms. I loved waking up every morning and being able to admire the mountain/lake view from bed. Everything was clean and felt very homey. My only recommendation would be to add standing fans for the upstairs bedrooms in the summer, which got a bit hot without A/C. That said, we had a wonderful time and I would definitely stay here again!

Great location and very spacious but very worn. Desperately needs some TLC. Also the clothes washer was broke but they were hoping to get it fixed soon. We enjoyed our stay and really weren't surprised by the worn condition because the rental company was very transparent. It does have beautiful views from throughout! And we walked down into Tahoe City and back each day. Lots of beds to choose from in this home which was important for our large family. And the hot tub was a highlight for all at night!

Wonderful house! We stayed in this house several years ago when it was owned by someone else so we knew the size, layout and location were perfect for our group. The only issue we had with the property was that the internet was not working properly, which was a problem, as a few in our group were working. Also, we are big sports fans and this home only had basic cable. Thank goodness the olympics were on so we survived!

This was a great vacation house for our two families. The spa was thoroughly enjoyed every night and we loved the views of the trees and the lake from the deck. The house is charming and well-appointed. Comfortable beds and very clean! We will definitely stay there again. The only drawback is that it is located on a fairly steep hill. We walked the neighborhood and down to the main drag several times but you need to be in fairly good shape to do so. On the flip side: The views and the quiet can't be beat!!

Came with extended family of 6 adults and 4 small children (baby to 4 years old). Overall the layout, bed configurations and location worked great. Took advantage of short distance to Tahoe City to walk to park and lunch at Jakes. Many nice upgrades - remodeled bathrooms and kitchen. Only minor issues were older appliances in kitchen (odd since granite counters obviously recent). We love to cook and electric range was difficult to use. Generally well equipped kitchen but could have used larger pans. A couple minor issues with windows and blinds not opening/closing correctly. Great view from deck and master bedroom. Downstairs area great for kids (although we needed to barricade stairways from youngest ones). Despite being near a number of roads the sound did not travel and so was quite peaceful.

The house was everything we expected and so much more. There was plenty of space for our large party with extra linens and towels. We definitely enjoyed all the amenities including the spacious kitchen and living space, the xbox to catch Netflix on our down time, and of course the hot tub. The view of the lake was a great bonus on the one clear morning during our stay. We did need chains for the steep driveway but were warned in the listing description. Overall I would definitely come back.

I stayed with a group of friends here over MLK weekend and the first thing I have to say is that they aren't kidding when they say the hill is steep. Could not make it up the hill the first night because there was so much ice/snow on the road however it did not bother us too much because we were warned that AWD/4WD is required to make it up the hill during winter. We just parked at the school nearby and walked our stuff up. The place is huge! I know the title says sleeps 12 but you could definitely fit more if necessary. The hot tub was amazing and we had a great view of the lake when the skies cleared up for us. I would definitely recommend this place and would book here again.

Such an amazing stay! Stayed thurs-mon Sep 24-28th. We were so excited for our trip that 2 nights before we contacted owner/management ( both were ALWAYS responsive and so kind to answer all of our questions) to see if we could go up early and add a night and they were so prompt and accommodating. We had also emailed them the night before we were suppose to check out to again add an additional night because we didn't want to leave this house and they again were so great to accommodate us. We had never rented a home before but thought with so many people it would be best to find a home instead of a hotel. We had 12 adults (no children) staying and everyone ended up fitting perfectly in the beds, we didn't even have to use the pull out couch in the master bedroom. Plenty of towels and linens ( pack your own beach towels if you plan to go to the lake though ). By the way, the master bedroom has the most incredible view. It was such a treat to wake up to that it was hard to get out of bed! The house was as described and very clean, with a whole easy to follow guide about the house and about the area. Hot tub was ready to go at the perfect temperature. I enjoyed that I could watch TV in the living room and watch the sunset from the two huge windows on either side of the TV. The location is so close to downtown which has great restaurants and shopping, Safeway is right down the road which was really convenient. I would definitely recommend this home and its location is just perfect for anything you plan on doing. We originally planned to go to Kings beach but after taking a drive around the entire lake and spotting Sand Harbor beach with the huge boulders and clear blue water, it was such a beautiful and peaceful spot so we spent 2 days at that beach relaxing and kayaking. Go to Fire Sign Cafe its a must for breakfast! Fat Cat is also a great choice and its in walking distance from the home. Overall, couldn't have been happier with the stay and want to go back already!

Family of 7 stayed here for a week. Easy drive from Reno airport. Plenty of room and conveniences in the house. The deck with grill, hot tub, dining table, and lounge chairs were wonderful. You can see the lake through the trees. Plenty of bedrooms for everyone to spread out. The location was great to walk into Tahoe City (you get a cardio workout coming back up the hill!), and easy car travel to north and south beaches. The neighborhood is pretty quite and relaxing. The only thing we wished we had was a bigger frying pan to make big group breakfasts (eggs, pancakes). I would have bought one for the house, but couldn't find one in nearby stores. Plenty of dishes, utensils, spices, etc. It was a great week, I highly recommend this house!

Four couples plus another friend reunited for a long, lovely weekend. Location was nice for walking into town and down to the lake. Unfortunately smoke from wildfires kept us indoors a lot, but the well-equipped kitchen and large dining room were perfect for hanging out.

The house is in the perfect location, within walking distance to all of the shops in Tahoe City and the lake. The house had plenty of space and a lake view. We had a great time. Snow conditions weren't top notch this year so we spent a lot of time at the house... it's a great place for a large group to gather and enjoy each other's company. The common areas are spacious and with 9 people in our group we had more than ample room. Thanks for a great vacation! The hot tub was dirty when we got there but they came out and fixed it the next day. The lake view from the deck is amazing!

I just came back from a week vacation on Lake Tahoe and Pioneer Retreat did the job flawlessly. The house is big enough for 12 people, it's well equipped and it was spotless, like really-really clean, no dust and the Jacuzzi and BBQ are a big plus. The property administrators (Tahoe Gateways) did an excellent job sending information about restaurants, transportation and general rules regarding the house. I've been renting homes for vacation purposes for more than 15 years in Miami, Atlanta, Orlando, L.A., Big Bear and San Diego and this was, by far, the best experience. Hope to visit Tahoe again... and soon. Only 3 cons (livable): 1. Looks like it's time to replace the towels 2. The water heater is a bit small for 12 people, expect to run out of hot water if some of your travel mates take long showers 3. The internet is as slow as the slowest internet café, even the speed on a Mcdonalds is faster
