ABOUT THE AREA

Originally named for the semi-precious red and yellow stones peppering the shoreline, today Carnelian Bay is a favorite among dogs, kayakers, SUPers and sunset seekers. Located between Tahoe City and Kings Beach, this laid back lake side town is known for great paddle boarding, and “Wet Woodys” on the deck at Gar Woods Grill & Pier.

Patton Landing is Carnelian Bay’s three acre pebbly beach, home to Waterman’s Landing, a gourmet coffee house, and a full service café. The property offers a free, nonmotorized "car top" boat launch and stand-up paddleboard and kayak rentals are available so you can enjoy the lake without bringing your own watercraft. And bring Fido! The eastern portion of the beach and the deck of the café are dog friendly.

In the winter, you are just 15 minutes from Northstar, where you’ll enjoy access to almost 100 trails and over 3,000 skiable acres, impeccable grooming, incredible tree skiing and enough variety to challenge every level of skier. Take advantage of world class terrain parks, cross country skiing, a youth Adventure Park, and a 9000 square foot ice rink surrounded by fire pits and a rink side bar. Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, and Homewood are all within a 25 minute drive.

My family had a wonderful stay. It was our first time renting a Tahoe home. There were all the amenities that you need when you are away from home. We all agree that the carpet in the bathrooms should come out! Since the living room is sunken in, they should make sure the chair is backed up to close the gap. If you’re gonna have a “no shoes”policy, the carpets should be cleaner. There were a lot of spots. The downstairs bedroom was perfect for my mom so she didn’t have to climb the stairs. The location was great! The views out the windows are soothing. You’re close to Tahoe City for shopping. I would definitely recommend this place to others. Tahoe getaways staff were so kind too. Thank you! “I’ll be back!”

Manager Response:

Thanks Kim, after a busy summer with little vacancy to be able to perform a full carpet clean, we think it's time too! Deep cleans and carpet cleans happen multiple times per year and it seems your time here was right before these scheduled services. We will make sure these both get handled in the next few weeks.

It’s a very nice place but it would have been even great if it was fenced in for dogs. However, it’s a large space with bbq girl and hot tub. Also, if the check out was at noon or later would have been nice! Since, there is so much to do in the morning of: such as cleaning and organizing the place and there is no time to enjoy that morning. The staffs are awesome and I wouldn’t mind a bit to come back again!!! Thank you so much!

We rented Jeff's Chalet for a week during the Holidays. This is our fourth time renting the house. We loved our stay, as his well-equipped kitchen is great for cooking in, the location is wonderful because it has very close access the the trails in the woods, and it was a cozy winter environment for us, our daughter, son-in-law and their new baby. It is also a great location if you bring your dog due to the close proximity of the dog-friendly Patton Beach.

We like the Tahoe 70’s experience, and this house is a prime example of homes built at that time. Had good light and was comfortable beds and couches.

Our family of four came to stay for three nights at Jeff's Mountain Chalet. The property was in a good location and was clean and roomy and plenty of space. I loved all the open and airy spaces and the windows to look out and see the beautiful trees. The cabin was well appointed in that it had enough pillows, blankets, towels, dishes and basic food staples in the pantry. The check-in was easy and the staff was helpful and friendly.

We thoroughly enjoyed Jeff's Mountain Chalet during our weekend stay. Myself, my partner and our 2 dogs arrived late Friday night. Everything was ready for us. The cabin was clean and well-appointed. We brought towels and toiletries but we appreciated that there were also some available for us to use. There was no fenced-in area for our dogs so we had to take them on the leash every time they needed to go out. I wish I'd asked about that ahead of time. The downstairs bedroom bed was not to our liking but the master bedroom bed was very nice. The hot tub was heavenly and I wish I'd been able to enjoy it more than once but we did put in a solid 30 minutes. The kitchen was huge and had everything we needed. We spent must of our time in the sunken living room although the front door with the inlaid windows weirded me out and had me looking over my shoulder all the time. Overall a great experience, great stay and we would definitely go back.

We enjoyed our stay at Jeff's very much. While not really walkable to the lake, it is very close to the trails in the woods. This is a very quiet street with practically no traffic.
We had two very small children with us which was challenging but not impossible. The balcony and deck railings are not kid friendly.
All the usual kitchen amenities are provided.
Thanks for sharing your home with us!

The property management staff I had the pleasure of interacting with were very courteous, professional, and inviting.
Would absolutely recommend this service and home for anyone else looking to get some fresh air in beautiful Lake Tahoe.

Comfy and cozy with good amenities. Close to the lake and grocery shopping (cooked dinner every night ... then s'mores on the deck!). Nice neighborhood and friendly neighbors (including their dogs). Kids fought over the loft spaces, of course. We're looking forward to spending more time here.

Overall, this was a good place to stay, especially for the price. The house is a great size & layout (we had 4-6 people), in a great location, was very clean, and was very well stocked with plenty of toiletries & a full kitchen. The management company also was easy to work with, and responsive. On the down side, the whole place is carpeted and the bathrooms and kitchen are out of date.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were lucky to have rented Jeff's Mountain Chalet for Christmas during the incredible snow storms of 2015! His place was the perfect refuge from the storms with the gas fireplace, large, well-equiped kitchen, and plow service! Our Golden Retriever loved all the dogs in the neighborhood who would come and visit whenever we were outside.

We all had a wonderful time at the chalet. One concern: The sunken living room caused a near disaster. Where it makes a left turn there is an open space, while not watching I dropped with one leg 2 feet to the bottom level. The chain in that corner is angled leaving the open space. Fortunately I suffered no injury. We simply moved the lounge chair to cover the opening. space.

My friends and I were coming up to Tahoe for the "Tough Mudder" event happening in Northstar and after a couple of months of searching for a house that could fit enough of us at a reasonable price we landed on Jeff's Mountain Chalet. Literally could not have asked for anything better! Close to both Tahoe City and Incline so we could easily move around the North Shore and also very close to Garwoods so we were able to keep the "Wet Woodys" flowing. Hot Tub was also very clutch!

Exactly what we needed

We all went up here for the Trans Tahoe swim last weekend. Tahoe Getaways was wonderful to work with and the house was just what we needed. It was clean, well-stocked and in the right location. The only less than perfect thing is that the main room is not very large and doesn't have too much seating but the bedrooms are huge and very nice. Zero complaints and I would absolutely stay there again.
