Description

Location, location, location! This cottage is an easy walk to Tahoe Park's HOA beach, Firesign Cafe (a local favorite!), and West Shore Market. The quintessential log home could not be more reminiscent of Lake Tahoe, and includes all the creature comforts one might wish for in an ideal mountain cabin. A Restoration Hardware "Cloud" sectional and 50" flat screen television make the cozy living room the perfect place to cuddle up while snow falls outside, or to gather together after a summer day on the lake. The home's small kitchen has been updated with new stainless steel appliances, and opens to the fully landscaped and fenced yard with patio.

Upstairs, the master bedroom stretches from the front to back of the house, and features a comfortable sitting area and gas stove. The spacious room even provides space to set up a crib or pack and play for the little ones who've come along. On this floor, you'll also find a guest bedroom with queen bed and full bathroom. Downstairs, the third guest room and second bathroom provide convenience for those who may prefer not to navigate a full set of stairs during the stay.

ABOUT THE AREA

Conveniently located three and a half miles south of Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe’s west shore, you’ll find the quiet residential neighborhood known as Tahoe Park. Just up the hill from Sunnyside and the Tahoe Park HOA beach, this neighborhood offers easy access to Paige Meadows and miles of back-country which is popular for hiking/biking in summer and cross country skiing/snowshoeing in winter.

Access to the Lake Tahoe Park Associate HOA beach offers an escape from summer crowds and the convenient location means you’ll never sit in west shore traffic. The Tahoe Park beach offers over three acres of lakefront enjoyment with two piers, a playground, basketball, bocce ball, volleyball, and picnic areas.

During the ski season, you are less than fifteen minutes from Homewood Mountain Resort. Or travel just twenty minutes to Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, two of the premier Tahoe ski areas. A single lift ticket provides access to both resorts, and the Squaw/Alpine Express offers between mountain transportation every 20-30 minutes.

Great Home &Location but Late Check-In and Early Check-Out

The home is beautiful and location couldn't be better. I wouldn't recommend this place for a weekend trip because the check-in time is late (4pm) and the check-out is early (10am). If you wish to check-in early, it's an additional $75. We were traveling with kids so it made things tough not having a bit more time in the evening to settle in, and also to rush out in the morning. The private beach access is wonderful and there are great restaurants and markets nearby.

I took my family to the Fountain Cottage for a four-day Memorial Weekend stay. After staying in several properties around west shore over the years, this was the nicest most well appointed property I have ever rented. Not only is the property fantastic, it is in a great location.

We stayed at Fountain Cottage for seven nights over Christmas and loved it!
- very cozy and clean, and well stocked with everything you need.
- amazing bedding, the best pillows ever.
- great fenced in back yard for kids and dog, with great hot tub.
- great kitchen fully loaded (but small dining table).
- garage attached with tons of space for unloading and reloading car away from the cold.
- GREAT location: easy 3 minute walk to breakfast spot, lunch, and small market for basic needs, and great coffee, right at the end of Fountain st.
- Quick drive to Alpine and Squaw for skiing.
- A+ experience!

We planned a last min. trip to Lake Tahoe and couldnt have asked for a better cabin to stay in. This cabin was decorated beautifully, very clean and cozy, plenty of room, and also came fully stocked with everything you need in the kitchen well as lawn chairs and coolers for lake use. The backyard even has a large hot tub and hammock...however beware the back door is self locking from the outside so we locked ourselves out of cabin and could have ruined our night unable to get back in with no shoes or phones...luckily a neighbor let us borrow a phone to call for some help! lol Highly recommend staying here with parties of 6 or less. Perfect location, walking distance from food and lake.

Overall, we really enjoyed the Fountain Cottage. The location of the house was its best feature. The ability to walk to the beach, restaurants and shops was so awesome. My only complaint about the house was it felt a bit small in certain areas. The living room and kitchen were very small, but the master bedroom was massive. The upstairs bathroom was also too small and the showe in that room was basically unusable given how small it was.

Our experience was perfect! From arrival to check out, the cottage met and exceeded all of our needs. The location is perfect, walking distance to the private HOA beach (which was much larger than expected!). The cottage was very clean and well stocked with anything we needed. We went to the store prior to checking in, and did not need many of the supplies we purchased - as the homeowner had them supplied. (paper towels, toilet paper, soap, etc.) We definitely recommend staying and would return ourselves!

This home was new on the market. The photos on the website make it look FAR bigger than it actually is. We only had two in our group, so it was fine. Six would find it downright claustrophobic, in my opinion. The living room is the only spot available for congregating. It has one couch and a tv. On a positive note, the house was very clean and the hottub was perfect. The beds were comfortable. The gas fireplaces were the only sources of heat. That means that you have to supplement with small electric heaters in two of the three bedrooms.
