The Big Chief 50K trail race is a loop course on a mix of single track and fire road in the scenic forests between Lake Tahoe and Truckee. You will run through mighty trees, take in breathtaking views and conquer rocky summits on your journey. The course travels between 6000 – 7500 feet of elevation and you will gain approximately 4500 feet during the run.

The race starts and finishes in the Village at Northstar Resort in Truckee, CA. Runners will be supported by 5 aid stations on the course with water, Electrolyte beverage, fruit and salty snacks. At the finish, you will be rewarded with cold beverages, including beer, snacks, and a finisher medal.

All participants will also receive a technical race shirt. The cut off time for official finishers is 8.5 hours but we do our best to accommodate everyone that wants to finish. Medical support will be provided on course and at the finish. The race takes place the day after the Tahoe Trail 100K Mountain Bike Race and follows roughly the same course with a few adjustments.
