Squaw Valley Resort is the largest ski area in North Lake Tahoe, and was the host site of the 1960 Winter Olympics. With 3600 skiable acres, 29 chairlifts, and the only funitel in the US, skiing Squaw has earned a place on many a skier’s bucket list. Now under joint ownership with Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley is in year five of a five-year, $70 million renaissance, which has brought new chairlifts, an iconic yoga studio and the world’s first ski-in/ski-out Starbucks to the mountains.

Beyond the slopes, visitors can enjoy ice skating, snow tubing, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. The Village at Squaw offers a wide array of dining and apres options, as well as a full service spa, yoga studio, and many retail offerings.

A true four seasons resort, summer in Squaw Valley is not to be missed. Hike or ride the tram to High Camp Pool and Spa, where you can swim or enjoy a cocktail at the poolside bar. Play a round of miniature golf, conquer the 25’ outdoor climbing wall, or try your hand at the ropes course. When you’re ready for a day at the lake, sandy beaches await, only fifteen minutes from your door.

Great stay in Olympic Valley!

We had a great stay in Powder Run Lodge! The house was great - a fun kitchen for both cooking and and hanging out. Plenty of room for our family of 4 to spread out but also cozy enough for us to enjoy each other's company (although the bed in the primary bedroom on the top floor is a bit tight for 2 grown adults). Everything was sparkling clean and in working order. The location could not be beat for our ski trip - literally a 2.5 minute drive to the Squaw parking lot! We took plenty of walks on the trail, snowshoeing through the meadow, building snowpeople in the back, and even sledding on a nearby hill with the sleds from the house's very spacious garage. The ONLY complaint about this was the internet - for some reason, even though there was a 5G network in the house, guests weren't given the password for it. This meant I couldn't do Zoom calls at the same time the kids were watching TV...(during work from home Covid times, this was pretty inconvenient). An inconvenience that is easily fixed - I hope they fix it for the next guests.

Manager Response:

Thank you for the review, Marcy. We provide all internet instructions at the house but apologies if it was missed. Our team is available every day of the week from 9:00am-6:00pm in the event future guests are unable to find this information.

Kerry (sp?) was very helpful and accommodating; when any problem pupped up, she was quick to fix. The home was really comfortable and easy to navigate. With two families of four, we found spaces for the kids to relax and for the adults to enjoy some down time, as well. The hottub was an amazing addition to the home and we found ourselves in it nightly after a day on the slopes. We felt so fortunate that Squaw was simply a mile and a half up the road when a full-snow weekend was upon us! Easy to drive up to Squaw, leave a car early in the AM for preferred parking and jog back home to get ready. All in all, we had a great stay at Powder Run and really hope to stay again in the future!

Powder Run Lodge was a great place for our group of 5 to enjoy an early March ski trip to Squaw Valley. The home was very comfortable and lovely; super clean and nicely furnished. It is a quick 3 or 4 minute drive to the parking lot at the Squaw Valley ski village. The house was very, very well supplied with extras like paper products, detergent, dish and dishwasher soap, foil, plastic wrap etc. Kitchen very well equipped also; even spices available for cooking. My son used the bed in the loft for sleeping and it worked out great and was comfortable. Our only suggestion, as a ski house, they could use some hooks and/or a coat tree and a bench or two at either the front door or garage door into the house to quickly and easily hang coats, sit down to remove boots, dry out gloves etc. The hooks at the back door work great for using the hot tub. The staff at Tahoe Getaways was fantastic! Very responsive, thorough, and easy to work with. They even answered right away and assisted us successfully when we called on a Sunday evening because we all needed a post skiing hot tub dip and we couldn't get the lock undone. Highly recommend renting through them! For groceries, plan to stop in or drive back to Truckee or Tahoe City (both about 15 minutes away). The only market in the ski village is very limited and very expensive. But we did use it to avoid the drive because we were all settled. Just wish we knew beforehand. For dinner, we loved Grahams, Plumpjack dining room, and Jakes On the Lake in Tahoe City.

I spent the weekend with some friends and this house was perfect. It had everything we needed and more..pots and pans, games, shovels, firewood, etc. It's proximity to Squaw Mountain was great. The Mountaineer shuttle picked us up right at our door and was only a 5 minute drive.Hope to return. Thanks!

We loved staying at Powder Run Lodge. As to the home, the amenities are fantastic. We made great use of the well-stocked and spacious kitchen and dining area. The fireplace is lovely. We were there for the largest blizzard in a decade, and it was an absolute lifesaver when the heat couldn't quite keep up. It's minutes from the slopes, and the views are unbeatable. The service from Tahoe Getaways was fantastic. At one point the water heater cut out (clearly not anyone's fault), and Tahoe Getaways had someone there to fix it in about an hour. We highly recommend booking this home for your next skiing vacation.

The power was out at our original rental. The Rental company gave us about 10 minutes notice before we were to check in which was not ideal. They still expected us to stay there even though the Fire Department told us we could not. They were helpful and did offer to refund us our money or to stay a different house at no additional cost - it all worked out in then end after about an hour of stress over being displaced.

Truly a comfortable and well appointed home. We had a very nice stay and enjoyed the hot tub, beautiful amenities, and close proximity to Squaw Valley's restaurants. Less than 10 minutes to Tahoe City. We could easily go into Tahoe and enjoy the lake, then come back to the house and relax in the hot tub before heading out to dinner. The only reason we gave 4 stars on location is that it is on the very busy main road into Squaw Valley. You do hear the street noise.

We had no expectations coming into the Powder Run home and were really floored. The home is a very spacious 3BR 3 bath with very nice fixtures. The downstairs is an open floor plan with kitchen and living room together. The appliances are new and very high end, and all of the cookware and utensils are not the typical flimsy stuff you find in vacation rentals.

All of the beds use nice linens and have good mattresses. Two of the rooms are en suite, and the third is pretty small but comfortable for a ski rental.

Overall, this home has everything you need and a lot more. It felt like an upgrade from our home, which is a lot to say for a vacation rental. We will be staying here whenever we can!
