The Olympic lakefront home was in a great location, a one mile walk to Tahoe City. It was in a nice quiet neighborhood and felt like we were right on top of the water. It was very pleasing to wake up to the waves lapping against the shore. The master bedroom, living room and kitchen were very well done, but the rest of the house needed updating. I understand that this house will be undergoing a major renovation this fall, and that will be a good thing. The deck, while large and accommodating, was old and needed replacing. We experienced some very heavy pine cones full of sap that dropped onto the deck while we were there and almost hit the head of one of our guests. It sounds crazy, but those pine cones could have done some major damage to whoever they hit. So I would probably not go back unless those trees were trimmed.

The property was clean when we got there except for all the glass windows facing the deck, but Tahoe getaways sent a window cleaner out first thing. We would have liked to have had better linens, towels and kitchen towels. Also, the kitchen utensils, pots and pans were very old and the knives were very dull. It's hard to cook with dull knives.

Nicole at Tahoe Getaways was very responsive to our needs, and took very good care of us.

Overall, we loved the quiet location. It will be great to see the house renovated.

Manager Response:

Thank you for reviewing your experience, we are so glad Nicole took great care of your group! We are thrilled that you enjoyed this home and its convenient location. While we do ensure everything in our homes are of quality, knives can dull after a busy summer with high occupancy but we are happy to address this at the home's next vacancy! Potential renters should note that this home may be renovated in the near future but the time window and the scope of the project have not been solidified at this time.

Excellent Lakefront Rental

This home has a fantastic lakefront setting. The key advantages are the deck at the edge of the lake and overlooking a sweeping view of the entire lake, the private dock where the local Sunnyside marina will greet you for a boat rental or to take a group siteseeing with a captain, and an excellent kitchen and living room area. Weaknesses include the 4th bedroom is a tight set of bunk beds so if you don't have small kids it isn't really very functional. The 3rd bedroom doesn't have a private bath so those using that bedroom must go down the hall to share the bath associated with the bunk beds or the powder room / laundry room combo is adjacent. Overall a very nice, clean waterfront rental that is only a mile or less to shopping, a good gym, and restaurant options.

The location of the house was good , however it was winter and it had snowed, the snow was not at all cleaned from the drive way properly, we could not even walk on the driveway and the car was skidding to get in and got got stuck.
Also the 2nd floor was not very impressive , and the furniture was not very good , it was old and broke easily

Manager Response:

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. I'm sorry you experienced these challenges around snow removal. A vendor has been retained to clear the driveway, and they operate continuously throughout a storm. That said, it is typical that some snow will accumulate between services. We recommend a 4WD vehicle with snow tires or chains if you are driving to the area during the winter months. Similarly, you'll want appropriate footwear for walking through several inches of snow. I'm not sure what challenges you experienced with the upstairs furniture, but everything is in good shape at this time.

The Perfect Home in Tahoe

This is simply the perfect home in Lake Tahoe! The location is amazing. You are right on the lake with a sublime view, and on a quiet street. While close to other homes, you feel completely secluded. Yet you are a half a mile from the town of Tahoe City, and therefore two grocery stores, all the restaurants, shopping, equipment rental, playgrounds and the movie theatre! You can easily walk to town on the path, and even closer is the Tahoe Bakery with great coffee and baked goods, and a natural market with a great deli. Both are at the top of the street. Tahoe City's running and biking path is at the top of the street as well - and it is fantastic. The house is incredibly comfortable, and we so enjoyed the kitchen, great room and hot tubs. I would love Tahoe Getaways to fix the one missing blind in the great room, purchase knives that work for the kitchen, invest in a handheld mixer and cuisinart for the kitchen, and ensure there is a DVD or Apple TV in the great room as advertised. Other than that - perfection!

Manager Response:

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay! We are so happy you enjoyed this home, as it is one of our favorites. And the blind are being repaired this week!

Magical to just sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of being on the Lake. The boat pier and large platform was fantastic allowing the family to swim, fish and enjoy the sun.

The only downside was the bear. Yes, the bear. The bear that opened the door to my SUV and ate my milkduds. The bear that slimed my car seats with mud, mud, mud -------------- otherwise, all was good

Manager Response:

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. It is pretty incredible to be right on the lake! While bears avoid humans, we highly recommend removing any food from your vehicles and keeping them locked, as bears will seek out sweet treats.

Our extended family enjoyed our stay at this home. It had several spaces to gather and we did not feel cramped . The proximity to areas we like to visit was a definite plus. We were able to walk to the city and not have to drive. The private pier allowed the children to dive into the lake which was awesome .

We had a fantastic trip. This home is beautiful and well equipped with everything. Lovely and comfortable. Master suite is amazing! Would be nice to supply some lake toys on deck. Downside? The home was surface clean but not deep clean. Cobwebs and bugs and dust. The deck and deck furniture was sticky and dirty. spent an hour cleaning when we got there. Hot tub needed some work, but we got it nice. Lots of room and chairs on deck was great.

We spent a week here with multiple families. Overall, the house is lovely and worked rather well for our group. We had a fabulous time. The kitchen and dining are especially nice and the rental agency was very responsive to our requests. While I would definitely recommend it, there are some small issues that should be noted and addressed. While the kitchen is pretty well stocked, it lacked some essential items, such as a vegetable peeler and colander and knives that were suitable for cooking and prepping. Also, the description of the garage and driveway was totally inaccurate. It states a two-car garage with room for two more in the driveway. The reality is that the garage doors are so narrow, it was impossible for any of us to use it. The drive way is also narrow and exceptionally steep. Again, not enough room for more than one car to park safely. Lastly, the upstairs master bedroom lacks a door. While it wasn't a huge issue, it should be mentioned. The older bathrooms in the back could use some love as the smell of mold is quite distinct and paint is chipping on the toilet seat.

We absolutely loved this house and would stay there again for sure! The place was beautifully decorated and spotless and the views are amazing. Management company was very professional and responsive. If you stay be sure to walk to Tahoe Bakery for yummy pastries and lattes!

This was one of the most comfortable, pleasant, beautiful homes we have stayed in. It is upscale, yet completely unpretentious. The on-line description was accurate, the place was impeccably clean and every room had great places to sit and enjoy the beauty of Tahoe. We would recommend this home to our friends and will look to see whether it is available the next time we return to Tahoe.

my husband and I like to take our three adult children and their family on a weekend getaway every year. It is hard to find a house large enough for right adults, 1 toddler and 2 infants. The house in Tahoe was perfect in every way.

We loved our weekend stay at this home! The location is fantastic and the home has every amenity you need and more. You can operate the sound system from your phone by downloading the system's App from iTunes. Don't try to use the home's iPad. Although the home was clean upon our arrival, I was mildly disappointed that I had to purchase hand soap and toilet paper to ensure that each bathroom was well stocked. Those were two items the house was supposed to be supplied with. Regardless, we cant wait to stay here again!

Beautiful home in a great location. One drawback--the bathroom for the second bedroom on the ground floor does not have a shower or bath. Need to use the bathroom in the master bathroom .

The house was perfect. When we pulled up we were confused because from the street side of the house it does not look like I imagined it to from the photos online but once you walk in the door it is so beautiful. Everything about the house and the stay was great.
The rental company said to me on the phone the day we checked in that the check out time was 12 and it was $100 to extend that to 3pm so I went off of that. Then the morning of check out at 9:30am I looked at my email to read over the check out instructions and saw that the check out time was actually at 10am and it was $75 per hour to extend it. I called the company and they said there was a miscommunication. So we had to be out in what was now 20 minutes or they would charge us. So the ten of us ran around like mad people to get out. Not the most relaxing end to our stay!
Overall the trip and the property were great. I would completely rent this house again.

Went with a group of ten for a long ski weekend at squaw and Northstar. The house was perfect for our group. The drive to Squaw was about 15 minutes and 30 to Northstar. The views from the lake were absolutely amazing. Would stay here again for sure!

Our experience with the Olympic rental was fabulous! It was a picturesque and cozy cabin with a fabulous view. A gorgeous Winter Wonderland! Also, 5 miles from Homewood Ski resort made for a great trip to the slopes with no lift lines!

Bar frig is not working. Deck is in need of a re-build. The framing system is horrific. Surprised there hasn't been a collapse. We pretty much stayed off the deck. Dock is well built though. Would have liked to stay at the other property in Rubicon. This place was offered as a replacement. It certainly is not worth $10K per week.
