Description

Crowning 30 incredible pine-studded acres overlooking Lake Tahoe, a rolling 10,000 square foot rolling lawn, and bordered by California and US forest lands this luxury vacation rental is absolutely the perfect find for those seeking a truly serene and secluded mountain retreat.

Located near Tahoe City, Bear Paw Lodge was designed to entertain. Styled with 6,100 square feet of heartwarming log interiors paved in quartzite, oak, and hickory, evokes the gentrified hideaways of the old Adirondacks. Vaulted ceilings, impeccable designed furnishings, along with expansive wood work and custom masonry including two floor-to-ceiling rock fireplaces create a grandiose feeling in every room.

The gourmet kitchen is a chef’s dream, and is equipped with state of the art, stainless steel appliances including a 6 burner cook top, two dishwashers, and commercial grade fridge. Opening up into the dining and living area, your guests will have their choice of entertainment options. Plenty of comfortable seating can found on the oversized sectional in front of the wood fireplace and flat-screen TV. Or challenge your friends to a game of pool, foosball, or shuffleboard! On quieter evenings, the formal living room, is the prefect place to share an after dinner cocktail, or simply cozy up with a good book with the amazing views of Lake Tahoe as your back drop.

Groups with any mobility concerns will appreciate that there are two master suites on the entry level. The larger of the two is incredibly spacious and has its own private deck with direct access to the hot tub. It has expansive windows to take in the full views of the lake and mountains, a gas fireplace, and built-in flat-screen TV. The expansive master bath is the ultimate in luxury and includes a double vanity, walk-in glass spa shower and soaking tub.

Upstairs four additional guest rooms are comfortable retreats, with all but one offering ensuite baths. The upstairs loft, offers another sitting area, game table, and a sofa sleeper for extra guests.

While, the luxurious interior will be sure to delight, it's really the outdoor space that will leave a lasting impression. Bear Paw Christmas 2018

The home and property were spectacular! Kitchen was awesome and well stocked. The 3 star review is because the issues we had were preventable in that it was known the internet wasn't working correctly days before our arrival (according to the property caretaker). In addition the radiant heat unit wasn't working correctly and had to be serviced. At a minimum, the caretaker told us that the heat wasn't turned on til late the day before our arrival and that wouldn't be enough time for the system to be working at full capacity. However, even after the servicing, the heat units continued to have problems, primarily because the Nest thermostats did not work (likely due to internet problems). We were without internet for over half of our stay and battled 75-80 degree temperatures in our bedrooms at night after the servicing of the heating units. For the steep rental amount, these issues should not have occurred.

Manager Response:

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience at this home. Again, we'd like to extend our sincerest apologies to your group regarding the issues you experienced.

It seems that the caretaker, while trying to help, caused a bit of confusion here. While he does know that this heating system takes a bit of time to warm the home up, he may not have been fully aware of when we went to the property originally.  We will address the issue of communication with the caretaker, so it doesn't happen again. To clarify further, because of the hydronic heating system, we sent our team to the property a few days prior to your arrival so that the system had time to do it's job. The issue seems to have occurred since the time we were at the property and was unrelated to the internet troubles or the Nest thermostats. Regardless, we are happy you informed us of this issue when you did as we taking heat issues seriously. Happy that we were able to get both our team and a vendor out there same day to resolve the failed pump and get the heat working again for you. I'm sorry to hear about the rooms being warm after the heat had been fixed. We certainly would have taken action right away, as we did before, but that didn't seem to be of preference to your group, which I certainly understand. We waited until your departure to have the vendor back to resolve this. Future guests should rest assured that the heating system is working great again.

While at the home prior to your arrival, we also tested all appliances and amenities to ensure everything was in working condition. At that time, our team discovered that the internet was acting intermittently, however I wouldn't say that the issue was preventable. We informed the caretaker of the troubles and attempted everything we possibly could to resolve this before your stay. Ultimately, neither our staff nor the caretaker could resolve the issue in the days prior to your check-in, and were left at the mercy of the service provider's appointment schedule. This so happened to be a few days into your vacation, so we apologize. We are glad we could get the internet working for a portion of your trip, at the least, but are sorry that it couldn't have happened quicker.

All in all, we do apologize about things not going as planned for your group this time around and hope to have the chance to host you again in the future. We'd love to make it up to you!

Bear Paw Lake View Lodge was spectacular. Our family enjoyed every part of our stay. The solitude and views could not be better. Our accommodations were first class. We would highly recommend this beautiful facility to anyone that enjoys a relaxing and fun time. The only suggestion I would have is to have more than one bath towel for your guests.

Manager Response:

Thank you for your wonderful review. We are thrilled you found the stay to be first class, as is our goal! Our standard is to supply one towel per potential guest based on the maximum occupancy of the home, in this case 12 sets of towels. Depending on a group's size or length of stay, we understand that needs can differ. We are available 7 days a week and are happy to assist in providing access to more towels or linens when requested!

Bear Paw Lodge is a lovely home ina beautiful setting. While it would have been nice to have more snow in February, you can’t cintrol Mother Nature! Home is nicely furnished and a great place for family and friends to gather and have fun. Since there wasn’t a whole lot of snow we were able to take advantage of the hiking trails right off He property. The only thing that would have made the stay perfect was if the home was cleaned better. Found spills from previous guests that were not cleaned and lots of webs on the windows in the sitting eared overlooking the lake view. We thought it strange at first having caretaker ina trailer, but he is a great guy and was a huge help with a couple of small things that came up during our stay.

Manager Response:

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. I am so sorry to hear about the cleanliness concerns. We have addressed the issues with our housekeeping team to ensure this is not a problem moving forward. We look forward to having you back next time you are in Tahoe!

The location and the Lodge was amazing. Some areas within the lodge are a bit dated and will need to be updated soon. I would have no hesitation in staying there again and recommending to friends to stay, in fact I have already mentioned this to one of my business partners!

The Lodge was perfect! Clean, had everything you needed. Comfortable beds, sofas, chairs. Everything was just wonderful. Ruben, the grounds keeper was fun and informative. Loved having him around. Everyone involved in renting and staying at this place was helpful and easy to work with. Cant wait to come back.

So glad to hear you enjoyed your stay! We would love to have you back anytime.

My high school friends and I had an absolutely wonderful time celebrating our 60th birthdays at the Bear Paw Lake View Lodge. It was a perfect place for our group of 6 couples! The lodge is gorgeous and the views spectacular. We enjoyed a hike around the extended property and loved spending the evenings in the family/game room. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone with a group of 12. Ruben, the caretaker, was very nice and helpful. It was great knowing he was there on the property, if we needed him. Thank you for exceeding my expectations!

The only downside to this property is there aren't bathroom doors for the en suite bathrooms, rather a curtain???  You can see the hinge and latch cut outs for the doors...why not reinstall them?  We spent a lot of money to rent this nice home and are not whiners, but no bathroom doors is ridiculous! And one other thing was the last minute offer for a late checkout.  Most had early flights from Reno, if we had known earlier we could have taken advantage of the extra time.

Manager Response:

We want to apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced during your stay. We also wish to clarify,  all 7 bathrooms now have doors. The only prior exception to this was the upstairs master ensuite, the owners preferred simply using a drape to separate the bed & bath but per your comment, they have reinstalled the one bathroom door that was not there, all other bed and bathrooms already had doors. In the future, if you require a late checkout please let us know, as we always try to accommodate guest needs when possible. The owners take great care and pride in their home, hoping other families may also enjoy this extraordinary property and we welcome your honest feedback at all times.

The house is in great shape and had a lot of room for our group of 9 to gather and enjoy each others company. We really enjoyed the location of the house right next to a state park. In the mornings we would get up and hike. Outside they also had a tire swing and a tree house which would be great for kids and kids at heart. Inside there was a foosball table, a pool table, and a shuffle board table. It was nice having all of those games available to us. We mainly ate inside the house because the kitchen was amazing. It had two ovens, two dishwashers and three sinks. This house was made to entertain large parties.

Home truths:
-There is a groundskeeper that lives on the property in a trailer home. We were not told about this before and found it odd that they did not disclose it. He was a very nice gentleman and plowed the driveway after it snowed.
-A few of the closets and bathrooms in the bedrooms do not have doors but instead have shower curtains covering them.We found this a bit odd as well.

Overall, it was a very nice house with a beautiful view of the lake. I would recommend this home to friends.
