Tahoe Seasons and Weather Conditions

Summer in Tahoe sure is special. And now that the crowds have packed up and the days are just a bit shorter, it's time to experience summer all over again...this time like a local! We call it "Local's Summer" because it is a well kept secret that September just may be the best time to play on the lake, shred on a mountain bike, or stroll through downtown. Daytime temperatures have dropped from upper 80s to high 70s, which means perfect lake weather without the overly warm afternoons. Water temperatures have reached their peak, making for wonderful midday swims. Leaves are just beginning to change, and sunsets are breathtaking, and the Lake Tahoe fall events calendar is in full swing.

For the athletically inclined, fall offers a chance to ride in the Edible Pedal, run the trail in Emerald Bay or take on the Spartan Race in Squaw Valley. Prefer to experience Tahoe in a slightly more relaxed fashion? Explore Historic Downtown Truckee during Art and Soul or drink up at Oktoberfest in Squaw Valley.

And if you aren't already planning your trip, here's one more thing to entice you. For our blog readers only, we are now offering two great deals on any arrival between now and Novemeber 15th. Stay two nights, get your third night 50% off, or stay four nights and get your fifth night FREE! Mention this blog post at the time of booking to save big on your Local's Summer getaway!
