Tahoe Seasons and Weather Conditions

If you have found our website, chances are you already know that Lake Tahoe is the go-to spot for winter sports enthusiasts. But whether you’re an avid winter warrior or a first time visitor, there are PLENTY of reasons to pack up the car and head to the mountains before month end.

January is typically the holiday hangover month, so not only will you avoid the crowds AND the traffic; now is the best time to capitalize on last minute discounts across the board! Not only will you find prices on vacation rentals at the lowest of the season, but this is the time for discounted lift tickets, equipment rentals, and retail sales!!!

Did we mention the lack of crowds? It’s worth mentioning again because this is the time of year when finding a parking spot at your favorite ski area won’t make you burst a blood vessel. You’ll also be delighted that you’ll get in twice the laps on your favorite chair, because the lift lines have shrunk as well. Whether or not you score big with a new winter snow storm, the local mountains are COVERED. Ski your heart out and be thankful you don’t have to go home to shovel. They’ll be time for that next month!

Yes, I realize that sunny and warm temps are not exactly ideal ski conditions; but again the ski areas are covered; so why not enjoy a day of skiing under the California sun? If you are looking for something new, North Lake Tahoe has plenty of opportunities to take advantage of these gorgeous winter days. Take a hike to an alpine lake and try back-county ice skating, or rent a kayak and take advantage of still winter waters. Been there, done that? Why not check out a local Hot Spring. Grover Hot Springs State Park is the closest and will let you enjoy a swim in its hot springs year round. The scenic Travertine Hot Springs are a bit further from Tahoe and more isolated, but well worth the trip.

So what are you waiting for?
