Tahoe Vacation Planning

There’s something about a full moon in the sky that makes us backpackers go a little bit mental. Maybe it's the fact that this phenomenon happens all over the world on the same day, that is cause for celebration. Most full moon parties have their origin in small hippy gatherings or traditional drum circles. People would gather together on the beach, under the light of the full moon, and celebrate this cycle of renewal. Some places like Koh Phangan, Thailand are known for their epic full moon parties that draw crowds in excess of over 30,000 each month to take part in the festivities. However, Thailand is not the only country that hosts these popular full moon parties. There are many beach (and I'll even argue ski) towns around the world that are taking part in this growing trend and hosting their own, unique full moon parties.

Here in our little corner of the world, we make no exception and have organized a variety of ways to celebrate the next full moon!

If you haven't had the good fortune of witnessing the full moon coming over the Sierra Nevadas or seeing the moonlight on the surface of Lake Tahoe, this is a great excuse to plan your next visit around the full moon.  You won't regret it!
