It's the beginning of Fall in Lake Tahoe and with so much to do and see this time of year, destination travelers will appreciate the chance to escape and take it all in!

This time of year promises cool crisp bluebird mornings, warm sunny days with all of the activities still available from the summer months, fewer crowds, and evenings filled with family and friends gathering. This perfect getaway combination is not to be missed.

Here are our top five picks for a Fall trip to Lake Tahoe:

1. North Lake Tahoe Spartan Ultra Championship Weekend  | September 24 -26, 2022 




North Lake Tahoe, 1960 Squaw Valley Road, Olympic Vall, CA 

Spartan will once again return to the rugged Sierra Mountains and take place at Palisades Tahoe, which was once home to the 1960 Olympic Winter Games.  Surrounded by beautiful views in the Sierra mountains, athletes will test themselves with a race full of twists and turn with a surface elevation of 6,22f feet and a max elevation upwards of 9,000 feet.  

Athletes from all over the world will come together for this 24-hour grueling race, who will come out on top?

2. Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk and Shop  | October 1, 2022




Since 2003, the Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop has been regarded as one of Truckee's leading annual events..

This event has raised over $35,000 for local non-profit organizations. Some of our past partners include Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada County and North Lake Tahoe, Tahoe Food Hub, Tahoe Safe Alliance, Girls on the Run, The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe, and Sierra Senior Services. This year, our partner is the Truckee Donner Horsemen Association, a non-profit organization founded in 1962 in Truckee California, whose purpose is to sponsor, cultivate and foster an interest in horses and horsemanship throughout Truckee, Donner and Sierra.

Join us for this iconic fall event in beautiful downtown Truckee. Attendees will receive a commemorative wine glass to sample wine at 30+ venues as well as five food tickets and a map to all participating venues. Get ready to wine, walk and shop!

Tickets are $65 in advance and include:

  • Commemorative wine glass for tasting at 30+ locations

  • Five food tickets for sampling

  • A 2022 Wine, Walk & Shop map  

3. Great Trail Race   | October 1, 2022




925 Country Club Dr, Tahoe City, CA 96145

An epic point-to-point race between Truckee and Tahoe City, CA . Participants can run or bike ride and there are two-course options, the Classic or the Elite. The Elite course is more technical and is a longer distance. Get competitive or set your own pace and enjoy the beauty of the Sierras. This event benefits the Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue.

4. Tahoe Gal "Liars Cruise"  | October 1, 2022




This is a signature fundraising event to support the Sierra State Parks Foundation and the restoration of the South Boat House at Sugar Pine Point State Park. Enjoy an evening of tall tales, bottomless bubbly, and endless hors d’ouevres while cruising the fabulous West Shore down to Sugar Pine Point State Park and back! Guests will meet at the Tahoe Gal dock behind Safeway in Tahoe City. The boat leaves promptly at 4 pm!

5. 11th Annual Tahoe Donner Fall Fest  |  October 8, 2022

The 11th Annual Truckee Fall Festival is a premier family-friendly harvest celebration and one of Tahoe Donner’s largest events of the year! Fall Festival is a favorite for all ages, featuring a full day of seasonal-themed events and activities.

Over the years, the event has grown in quality of programs, vendors and attendance with festival goers returning year after year. Sponsorship allows us to continue growing while providing great exposure for participating partners.

Where: Outdoors at Northwoods Clubhouse
When: Saturday, October 8, 2022
Time: 11AM – 4PM
Tickets: An admission fee is required to attend the event
Cost: Member child (age 3-15) $20, public child (age 3-15) $25, member adult (age 16+) $5, public adult (age 16+) $10, ages 2 and under free.
