North Lake Tahoe is home to 8 ski resorts! Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows, Northstar, Homewood, Tahoe Donner, Diamond Peak, Mt. Rose, Sugar Bowl, and Boreal - and each resort offers a variety of terrain with something special about each one! We asked three of our own, Sarah, Kyle, & Jesi to spill on their favorite ski runs, lookouts, & more!

Favorite Run at Squaw Valley:

J: “That’s a hard one, but it would have to be either Heidi’s or West Face. To get to Heidi’s you take the Red Dog Chair, when you get off the chair follow the trail to the right & you will eventually see the sign for Heidis. West Face is accessed from the K-22 chairlift and is on the right side of the lift.”

Favorite Run at Northstar:

K: “I like Challenger. It’s on the backside of the mountain and its super long and has a couple of steep faces. There’s also a pretty neat view when the run starts to wrap around. And when conditions permit you can go over to Sawtooth Ridge into the backcountry.”

Favorite Bar on the mountain:

S:The Big Blue View Bar at Homewood! Located at the top of the Madden Chair lift on the mountain, you literally feel like you’re going to fall right into the lake, it has the best view and location to drink a beer after skiing some runs!”

Favorite place to grub on the mountain:

S:The Chalet at Alpine Meadows. You can only get to it by skiing since it is located on the slope mid-way on Weasel Run near Scott chair. Beer on draft and brats are the way to go! Plus it has a great deck to sit outside and bask in the sun!”

Favorite View/Lookout spot:

K: “At the top of Diamond Peak you get an incredible unobstructed view of the whole lake.”

Describe your Perfect Powder Day:

S: “I wake up at the crack of dawn, it is cold outside, a blue bird day, and there’s a couple of fresh feet of snow on the ground. Eat a quick breakfast with a few mimosas and head out to Alpine Meadows with my boyfriend, make some fresh turns in the thigh deep powder over on Promised Land, and then do some hiking out towards Estelle Bowl for some untouched powder. End the day with a hot tub session, sushi, & drinks!”

Favorite place for Après Ski:

J: “Pizza and beer at the Chammy! Le Chamois at Squaw Valley is a long-time local hangout for skiers after a long day on the mountain and is always a good time!”

Favorite Terrain Park:

K: "I enjoy lapping the terrain park at Boreal. Boreal is meant for park riders, they always have cool features and sometimes a half pipe as well!"

Favorite Run at Sugar Bowl

J: "I like skiing over on Crow's Nest Peak, especially after a good snowfall and skiing through the Crow's Nest Glades."
