Valentine's Day is less than two weeks away, and we have a feeling some of you might still be looking for a way to make the day extra special. You're in luck! Here in Lake Tahoe, we do things a little differently. Sure, flowers and chocolate are nice, but if you really want to step it up for that special someone this year, check out these three unique Valentine's Day date ideas:

1. For the Adventurer: Snowcat Tour and Dinner at River Grill

Celebrate love by chasing untouched powder with a Homewood Snowcat Adventure. This all-day excursion transports your privately guided group to the top of Ellis Peak, offering access to a wide variety of terrain options and panoramic views of Lake Tahoe and the Desolation Wilderness. You'll definitely work up an appetite on this adventure, so head up to Tahoe City to enjoy delicious California Cuisine on the Truckee River at River Grill.

2. For the Romantic: Ice Skating and Cocktails By the Fire

Take your sweetheart for an evening spin around Northstar California's 9,000 square foot ice rink. What's more romantic than skating hand in hand under the stars? The rink is open until 9:00 pm and skate rentals are available for $20. After a few laps, warm-up at The Living Room, Ritz-Carlton. Cuddle up on one of the many couches in front of the fireplace, and take in sweeping views of the Martis Valley while enjoying craft cocktails and contemporary fare.

3. For the Explorer: Sunset Snowshoe Tour and Valentine's Day Dinner

Catch a romantic sunset in the heart of the sierras.  Bundle up and take a guided sunset snowshoe tour with your special person (does require a group of four) and enjoy a serene evening in the mountains.  Follow up with a romantic dinner at Cottonwood Restaurant & Bar where you can overlook the lights of downtown Truckee and a thoughtfully prepared menu.
