We Love Olive Branch & Tahoe Getaways!

This was the 3rd year we stayed at Olive Branch and our 6th rental with Tahoe Getaways. We love coming back to this house and hope to continue to do so for many more years! There are lots of reasons for this, the location is fantastic, the size, layout and condition of the home are perfect for our adult family of 7 plus our dogs. The kitchen is large enough for several people to work in it and it's well stocked with everything one needs to cook all we've thought of so far. The large living room is comfy for watching a movie or just enjoying the fireplace. The dining room table seats our whole group and the bedroom arrangement gives everyone private spaces with plenty of bathrooms. We also enjoy having the fenced back yard with the deck and hot tub so the dogs can run around freely while we are out there. It also feels very private. Tahoe Getaways is by far the BEST property management company we have ever had at the many rentals we have enjoyed over the years. They are so pleasant to talk to and extremely responsive if something needs repair. Knowing they are there makes the stay worry free! Thank you to both the lovely owners for sharing their home with us and Tahoe Getaways for making it happen! We look forward to many more vacations here.

The Olive Branch cabin worked really well for my family of 8. The common area was more than enough room for 6 adults and two kids and the bedroom/ loft layout worked well for us. Located close to amenities and the north Tahoe regional park for sledding was great for us. Cabin was very clean and well kept. We had a great weekend.

My family and I recently stayed at the Olive Branch rental home and had a fantastic time. The house was beautiful, clean, and in a great location. The layout of the house was perfect for our group. However, we did have issues with the internet during our stay. It was quite slow, which made it difficult for us to stay connected. Despite this issue, we still had a great time and would recommend the rental to others. The property managers were also very friendly and responsive. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and we hope to visit again in the future.

The good and the bad of The Olive Branch

My family and I rented the olive branch rental from Tahoe getaways for Christmas of 2021. We were there from the 23rd to the 30th. During an end and unusual snowstorm. So first of all, the house was very comfortable in spite of the fact that we were essentially snowed in. It was warm, almost too warm and large enough that we didn’t feel like we were on top of each other. For the most part the house is very comfortable. No one complained about the bed and the bed I slept in was very comfortable. The large living room/dining room/kitchen area made for great family meals together. The loft with two full beds overlooking the living room was somewhat of a problem, though. I don’t believe that the description of the house really accurately described The absolute lack of privacy this room has and my two daughters were stuck in there. They could hear everything going on in the living room below and they spent their entire vacation with noise canceling headphones on. I wish it had been made more clear that this was the situation. Also on my list of complaints is the kitchen. While fairly large the people who own the house and/or rental company has provided no place for guests to leave their food. So we had our food all over the counters, which left very little counterspace for food prep. There are also not adequate numbers of glasses and dishes and we were constantly having to do dishes because of the shortage. There was only one small pot and so I actually had to go buy an additional part in order to make a large enough batch of soup for the whole family. They leave absolutely no essentials except for coffee filters. No salt and pepper, no nonstick spray, no oil. I also manage a vacation rental and I provide all of the kitchen basics to my guests because I know that they do not want to have to go buy salt and pepper, oil, the very basics of herbs and spices, or baking powder and baking soda. And I think it is safe to assume that most families will be doing a fair amount of cooking when renting a house like this. There was also so much snow on the deck in the back when we arrived that it made using the hot tub almost impossible. Only one snow shovel was available to us and no snow melt. There was also very little toilet paper and paper towels left for us in the house. We had to go buy our own. which I think is really weird for a rental house that costs about $1300 per night. You’d think that they would provide ample toilet paper and paper towels! I was also pretty disappointed that there were absolutely no Christmas decorations even though it was obviously a holiday get together. There were, in fact, Christmas decorations in bins in the garage and so I’m not sure why none of them were put out for our stay. Again, with my vacation rental, I’ll ask the guests coming in over Christmas if they want it decorated. They always do! And so I make that extra effort for them and make the house is very festive for holiday gatherings. So it is definitely a mixed review! In some ways it was very comfortable and perfect for our family but in other ways I felt that it is poorly managed and the comfort and care of guests is highly overlooked. Also, on my first night there I emailed Tahoe getaways and asked if they had any other pots or possibly a crockpot that I could borrow and they never responded.

We really appreciate your detailed review and will do our best to address your concerns for the next renters. The one item that I do want to address so that future renters are clear, we do not supply basic kitchen condiments. Occasionally, these items will be left by previous renters but it is not something we stock or supply for guests. Toilet paper and paper towels are only stocked with a starting supply in the home.

Nice house but internet was terrible

Thought the house was very nice and we would plan to stay there several times a year as our boat is in the water nearby. But the internet was terrible and made it almost impossible to work remotely. If you get upgraded please let us know and we will stay again for sure. Also, the jets in the hot tub did not work.

Thank you for reviewing Olive Branch. We have to agree that is should be easier to have reliable internet, however in these rural areas, we really have only one provider to pick from. Wireless internet and cell service can be slower than what our guests may be used to in the city no matter what home you rent. Cell service is fairly good in the area and guests are welcome to bring their own hot spots.

We truly enjoyed our 10 days at Olive Branch. We received excellent communication and the house was clean and had everything we needed. We loved the layout of the house, I especially enjoyed the private office area. We only had one issue, the snow removal service was a bit slow to respond, but the property manager kept us informed and it wasn't a big issue. If we go back to North Lake Tahoe, this property will be at the top of our list.

The place was very well furnished and comfortable. It was as expected. The only change I would consider an improvement would be to convert the couch in the stairwell into a sofa/sleeper or futon for kids to use when there is a larger group. The kitchen was very well set up with good pots to use. We enjoyed cooking dinner together. A few more cups and glasses would be useful. Enjoyed our stay and liked the house. In the future, please consider sending the check out instructions with the check in instructions. Some of us left earlier and we ended up stripping the beds etc as we usually do but it would have been good to know the rules earlier to distribute the work to the groups leaving earlier. This was our second time staying at Olive Branch. It is a comfortable home with enough room for friends/family to have a little privacy. Great kitchen/living/dining area where everyone can gather! Fully fenced yard means your pet is safe! We look forward to coming back next year.

Summer Starts at Olive Branch

We really enjoyed kicking off summer at Olive Branch. It is a large and comfortable home with plenty of room for all. The pluses included: well equipped kitchen with nice appliances (we love to cook!), a fenced in back yard that the kids loved to go on “adventures” in, and great lay out for every one to have some room. This home was also spectacularly clean on arrival. Although not a deal breaker keep in mind the following: you enter the mud room/entry landing and need to climb a flight of stairs to get to the main level (kitchen, master bedroom, etc.) this was difficult for one in our party with physical limitations. Also there is no AC at this house, it was a warm weekend and even with the windows open the upstairs bedrooms were pretty warm and had no fans. On the whole would definitely would come back!

We have updated the listing with a full walking "virtual" tour for future renters to get the full scope of the home's layout. Also, like many homes in the Tahoe area, it is correct that this home doesn't come equipped with A/C. However night temperatures cool down to the 40's usually and we do provide fans for each bedroom. We are always happy to provide tips on keeping this home temperate and comfortable!

We decided to rent this property over Memorial Day weekend because the space looked beautiful online. The home is just lovely and located across the street, one block up from the lake. So conveniently to shopping, restaurants and outdoor activities. The space was perfect for 3 adults and 2 children. Loved the decor and the wood throughout. Had all the amenities that anyone could need. The property management company was wonderful. Jenn and Taylor were both so gracious when we had a personal travel delay. I can’t say enough about how great our family vacation was and we look forwarding to staying at Olive Branch again.

We found the master bedroom downstairs to be uncomfortable with the mattress having a plastic cover under the fitted sheet. Caused sheet to slide. The bathroom shower drain fills up immediately with water and the floors freezing with only 2 small throw rugs. The patio was not usable as the table very old and dirty. The kitchen was very nice and well equipped. Seems as though this would be perfect for a house full of children. Also the upstairs master (only other room used) had no holders in the shower for soap or shampoo. Odd.

Olive Branch is a lovely pet friendly vacation rental. Very spacious and well equipped and decorated. Was very impressed for being a pet friendly rental, it's not stinky, musky or run down at all. A short walk to the lake and a couple a great restaurants. I wish they had a little more patio furniture to enjoy the fabulous decks and patio but all and all would highly recommend Olive Branch!

Dream vacation!

Worth every penny. The cabin was hotel style clean and well appointed. We cooked most of our meals in the kitchen, saving money on restaurants. (Plus it's much healthier!) The house itself is well thought out - with an entry way to remove snow boots and gear before accessing the main floor. The beds were very comfy (I brought my own pillow) and the living/dining/family room was open and perfect for playing games, reading and watching movies. We spent a day at Squaw and came back to soak in the sparkling clean hot tub. It was heavenly! We brought our 2 golden retrievers and discovered an awesome hiking trail up the road, which we hiked twice a day. Everything about our stay was perfect and we will definitely be coming back in the summer.

We have been doing winter holiday vacation rentals in Tahoe for about a dozen years now. This year we decided to pay up a bit more in the hopes of getting a house that really was fun to be at...and we hit the jackpot! This was truly a great house for our family of two adults, two young teens, and two dogs. And we had some friends of ours join us for a few days, and they were also two adults and two teens. The house itself was very spacious, and sleeping arrangements were great. In addition with three tvs spread out around the house...and a steady and strong wifi signal throughout...there was no problem having us all in the main room or having the kids spread out and doing their own thing. The kitchen was great: it had nice cutting boards, great steak knives (a full set!), and a full range of new pots, pans and cooking accessories. Plenty of glassware, flatware and plates and we were able to have a really great New year's eve dinner with all 8 of us at the same table. The location was super...really just a 2-3 block or so walk to get to the 7 eleven, or the lake, or the Garwoods restaurant. We skied at Northstar, and it was less than 12 miles door to door; a map showed us that it would have been the sane to get to Homewood, and just a tad further to Squaw. One evening the kids all went to the movie theatre in Incline village to see the new Star wars movie...maybe 5-6 miles each way, that was all...such an easy ride! Topping it out was the yard...we needed a fully fenced yard for our dogs, and this was really a great yard, very large, right out the door from the kitchen. We loved this house for our vacation and we will def be back again!!

Love, love, loved this house! It was perfect size for my small family, parents and sibling. Loved the closed in yard, along with hot tub and BBQ. Very close to water. Would love to come back and stay again. Highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to North Lake Tahoe. Very clean, spacious.

We were two couples in our thirties, a one year old toddler, and a 5 year old chocolate lab. And safe to say that everyone had an incredible time. The location is excellent (2 minute walk to Gar Woods and the lake, easy drive to Kings Beach and Tahoe City). And the house was in fantastic condition. The only comments, and I don't want to call these complaints as it really wasn't a big deal: the wifi/internet in the house was terrible. Personally, I don't think this should ever be a deal breaker for a mountain vacation, but just something to keep in mind. Would highly recommend this vacation rental!

Great Location in North Tahoe

This home was in a great location in Carnelian Bay - About 3 blocks from the lake (public beach), Gar Woods restaurant (excellent), and water sports rentals. The house is roomy and comfortable with a great layout and nice kitchen but could use a little TLC (no icemaker or ice trays, some toilets need attention (water running constantly), and towels a little dingy (although there were plenty). Note that this home is managed by a rental agency, not the owners.

I have stayed at this property for 3 years and the maintenance has been minimal. Carpets are stained, kitchen has no room for storage due to owner locking so many draws and pantry. Pots and pans are very old and not ample for 10 people. Deck and chairs are worn and need refinishing or replaced. Had to clean bugs from windows. Garage door opener has to be repaired. Screens are worn and slider screens have holes. Screen is missing from one bedroom and this is a safety hazard. We decided not to stay here again unless things change.

Great home close to the water. You can tell the homeowners really did a great job decorating the place. Tahoe Getaways was pleasant to work with. We had plenty of space and a fully stocked kitchen. The PM company said they inspect properties before turning them over to the renter. Our property had an issue with the hot tub with the water being old and green and had to be changed, chlorinated and heated. Unfortunately, we didn't get the opportunity to use it because the water wasn't ready until 10pm the night before we departed. Also, there was long hair stuck to the shower tile wall. We hope Tahoe Getaways seeks the opportunity to inspect their properties a bit more closely in the future.

Excellent property for a dog friendly getaway. The only concern is getting up the driveway during the winter. House is right past public street for snow right in front of house is not plowed. We had SUV and still took several attempts to get in. Slip and traction. Summer would be amazing!

Loved the rustic yet luxe decor, well-appointed with most everything you'd need. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the open concept kitchen, the outdoor hot tub, and very comfortable beds. Had a wonderful time and would love to return again. Our only issue was that the driveway was very icy and steep, even with chain tires we spent nearly 3 Hours trying to park our car. We received some additional assistance when someone from Tahoe Getaways got us a new shovel, some ice melt and helped break up some of the ice to create more traction.

Delightful house, great location, would definitely stay here again Some issues should be noted--in master bath sink and shower fixtures loose or not easily used. I have stayed in many rentals over the years and this was by far lacking even the basic salt/pepper, olive oil, sugar, etc. Don't expect food to be provided but this was like a model home lacking any basics of habitation. Having such in one cupboard with a note or something would be a nice touch. Finally, the huge pine tree across the narrow street comes up on a driver backing up very fast....maybe more reflectors?

Nice property. Good location. Clean and nice backyard for our dog. There were a couple basic things missing that most rentals provide. Salt and pepper, olive oil, more wine glasses, and this year with the yellow jackets in full force everywhere on the lake they should empty and re-fill the fluid for the traps with every rental. We did it on our own and it made a huge difference.

We stayed at this home last year and liked it so well we decided to rent it again. The home has ample room for my family and relatives. The décor is attractive and the kitchen with the great room is perfect for family meals and entertaining. We noticed this year that the house is starting to show some wear. Other than these items we enjoyed our stay and would most likely stay there again.

This home was absolutely fantastic. The location was convenient and easy to fine. Our 2 huskies LOVED the nice, fenced-in back yard (we were lucky and came just as a big weekend storm dumped a lot of snow in the yard for them to play in). The home was very beautiful and everything was just as good, if not better than advertised. And the property management folks are top notch. We will stay here again, no question.

We arrived a bit early and only waited a short while for Tahoe Getaways Staff to look over the house. The house was clean,spacious, and modern. We loved the house and all the bathrooms that accomadated our large family. There was cable and a extra play area for the kids to bring their PS3. We would stay here again!

We visited with 3 couples (roomy enough for 4) in May and wished we could have stayed longer. The kitchen was perfect cooking for a group, had everything we needed. The backyard was great, surrounded by trees yet got plenty of sun, the hot tub was enjoyed morning and night. Close to the lake and plenty of nearby hiking.

My family and I just returned from a wonderful weekend at the Olive Branch house. The house was the perfect size for our group of 7 and 3 small children. There was room in the 2 master suites to fit our 2 travel cribs. The kitchen and family room were well suited for our needs, and watching the snow fall from the 2 decks (in the front of the home) was so fun. The backyard was a great size for the kids, and the adults loved the hot tub. We can't wait to stay here again!

This vacation rental was the epitome of beautiful!! Wonderfully maintained and clean as a whistle. The house was on a slight hill, so one of our cars almost didn't make it up the icy path, but managed. The backyard was spacious and fully fenced! Our 3 huskies fully enjoyed the snowy wonderland all weekend :) Our party of 7 + 3 dogs lived more than comfortably. Management was also prompt and great with all our questions. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay! We fully recommend this property and management!

Overall it was great experience and a great house.. the management team is fantastic and courteous, but the house is not actually 4BR, it has 3BD and a loft, with very little privacy, no door or closest and its open to living area where sound and heating was a big comfort issue.

Many years my family enjoyed summer vacations in carnelian Bay Area. We then switched to the very crowded west shore. We returned to carnelian this year and gloried in the many qualities of this area. Olive Branch rental price is a superior choice than a gated west shore community. The home itself is just as advertised. It is/was lovely with more space than a condo. My grandsons enjoyed lots of golf at magic castle and old brockway. The front and back decks offer sun or shade. Management responded immediately to a very minor issue. Patton beach is filled with dogs and their owners--- an easy walk unless loaded down with umbrellas and beach chairs. Property very clean with all amenities. Love. Loved our stay there.

This place is absolutely amazing and everything you will need for up to 10 people! I went with a group of 8 people: 3 couples got their own bedroom and two individuals got their own bed so everything worked out perfectly. It's in Carnelian Bay, and a 5 minute walk to the lake, nice restaurant on the lake, mini golf, 7/11 store. It's also a 10 minute drive from Safeway and about 10 minute drive from a state park, where you can walk up and see a beautiful view of Lake Tahoe. The house had a fenced yard so it was perfect for our dogs. (Each dog got charged $50 for their stay). This house was beautiful, well kept, and had everything. My only complaint was that the internet was not working :( But overall, we didn't need wifi because all of our phones had internet and most of us were too busy having fun to be on our phones anyways. I would highly recommend this place and location for anyone looking for a nice quiet trip in Tahoe.

Very nice an updated vacation house. The house had lots of room for all 10 of us that stayed there. It had everything that we need for a comfortable homely stay for us coming from Hawaii. We had a couple of small problem with the hot water and the jacuzzi not getting hot so I called the office and they had someone out there right away to fix it. I highly recommend this vacation house.

We stayed at Olive Branch for a long weekend with our two children and their spouses and a new Grandbaby (born in November). We all loved this home. The fireplace is so easy to turn on & it gives so much warmth! The house is beautifully decorated and so very nice. We loved the bears throughout. The decks were spacious and beautiful and we had morning coffee out there. They would be especially welcoming in the warmer months. We cooked and played games and walked the beach. It was so relaxing and we all had plenty of space. They even had heated floors in the master bath and front entry. The garage was very nice to park 2 cars in with plenty of room and very clean. We appreciated the help of Tahoe Getaways and especially Beth Taylor! We will be return!

Very nice house in Carnelian Bay. Love the fenced in yard for the dog and the deck for the humans. Having a grill that's hooked up to the house gas line also nice. House was in great condition. Only complaint is that for a house that can occupy 10, there is only dinner serviceware for 8 and chairs for 9. Owners can easily turn this house into a full 5 star house with some very small additions. On the plus side, there were plenty of wine glasses. :)

Beautiful home located just a couple of blocks from the lake! We were two families with young children and school age children as well as two dogs. The back yard was great exploring for the kids yet the fence provided a boundary. The kitchen had most everything we needed. When we found one repair issue(broken glass on the garage door) the management team was quick to respond. We would love to stay again!

Great north shore access to trails dinner lake I would like the hot tube warmer was unable to change the temp and the TV was in demo mode could not figure out controls but we have stayed there 2 times and will go aging next year the place is great

Thank you for your review! We love seeing repeat guests in our homes. I'm sorry you were unable to get the hot tub up to the desired temperature. We do service the tub prior to each rental, and if needed, dump the tub and fill with fresh water. When this is done, it can take some time to heat up again, but we have an in house hot tub technician on staff seven days a week, so feel free to call us with any trouble. We've just tested the tub and it is now working great! We also now provide detailed AV instructions for the home's televisions. Looking forward to seeing you back this summer!

This was the our second stay at this beautiful cabin. All the amenities and comforts of home and just a short walk to the lake, restaurants and Magic Carpet Golf (miniature golf). The large fenced backyard, deck and hot tub are great features as well. We will be back :)

Beautiful, spacious, cabin perfect for families. Plenty of space for our group of 9 with kids ranging in age from 7-17. The backyard is fenced (which isn't always the case in Tahoe) so it was easy to contain the troop during our annual snowball fight and snow fort building. The hot tub was great and there's a BBQ grill outside, as well. The home has nice touches, like white lights strung around the deck, that just make it special. I would choose this home over others I've stayed in time and time again. It's right between Kings Beach and Tahoe City, so you can choose to head one way to go to Northstar or the other way to head towards Alpine/Squaw. Nice location!

This is a beautiful house with lots of room and it is well taken care of. We really enjoyed the hot tub and feeding the chipmunks. It was a nice convenience that we were able to use the garage with a garage door opener. We found the location of the house was ideal for getting to lots of activities around the lake. We had a wonderful stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house was very clean and spacious. It was built in 2006 so most things looked pretty good. It has a big garage too, if you are so inclined to use it. We were with our 2 adult daughters and one boyfriend also. We did not use the loft bedroom, but I think its a good spot for children to sleep, adults would have no privacy. The beds were pretty comfy and the bathrooms were ok, we had some minor issues in the beginning and the maintenance was handled very promptly and satisfactorily (and this was Christmas week, we were impressed). The kitchen desperately needs a new toaster and some better pots and pans. We took a sharp knife from home with us which we needed. We bought a griddle while we were there and left it as there was nothing to fry eggs on. But there was pretty much everything else one needs in a kitchen though we never did find the cutting board. There's no cocktail shaker or martini glasses wine glasses are limited if you are fussy. There were napkins,matches & ziplocks; also extension cords and toilet plungers (3 at least!) in the laundry room under the sink in the back, and some basic tools in there too I think. We enjoyed the fireplace but it made a constant hum, very annoying when things were quiet. We felt the shower in the master bedroom downstairs needed a new shower head and I think my daughter said the same for the ensuite upstairs too. That is a very minor detail though. There were a lot of towels and the laundry room was awesome to have. The hot tub was great, we did attempt to use the grill but could not get it to light and just gave up. We walked to Gar Woods several nights and enjoyed good cocktails there and I would recommend their mussels among other things. They were sooo good! Drove to Spindleshanks one night and we were all like "Meh." about that place. The entire experience at the Olive Branch was a positive one and we would definitely recommend this house to anyone. We would stay there again.
